Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the Anchor app collects, uses, processes, and protects your information when you use the Anchor mobile application (the "Application" or "Service"). By accessing or using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not utilize the Service.

1. Core Principles & Data Ownership

We believe your data belongs to you. In operating Anchor, we adhere to three foundational pillars: • No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties, data brokers, or advertising networks. • No AI Training Exploitation: We do not utilize your private text chat logs, voice transcripts, or personal inputs to train foundational, public, or third-party artificial intelligence models. • Purpose Limitation: All data collected is used strictly to deliver, maintain, optimize, and personalize the user experience and maintain conversational continuity.

Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide a personalized well-being companion experience, we collect specific account, conversational, and technical indicators. A. Account Security & Authentication Data Collected: Your email address and a secure, cryptographic hashed password. Third-Party Processor: Authentication mechanisms are handled securely via Supabase Auth. B. Session Content & Conversational Data Data Collected: Full, comprehensive textual transcripts of your voice check-ins and persistent text chat conversations. Purpose: This data is processed solely to provide conversational context, continuous memory, and real-time personalization for your interactive sessions. C. Well-Being & Mood Tracking Indicators Data Collected: Quantitative metrics including your baseline mood logs via the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) collected at the start of voice sessions, as well as optional, self-reported responses to standardized questionnaires like the PHQ-9 and GAD-7. Purpose: This data is used strictly to help you track personal patterns over time and to allow the AI to dynamically calibrate its conversational delivery style based on your mood. D. Evolving AI Memory and Profile Data Collected: A cumulative, long-term conceptual profile graph built and updated dynamically by the AI across sessions. This includes automated extractions regarding your personal history, core concerns, stated growth goals, relationships, and behavioral patterns. Purpose: This profile exists exclusively to give your AI companion cognitive continuity so you do not have to repeat your history across multiple sessions. E. Technical & Usage Metrics Data Collected: System processing tokens, estimated computing cost profiles per session, total message counts, and overall session durations. Purpose: This metadata is collected strictly for system monitoring, server optimization, internal billing metrics, and application infrastructure health.

3. How Data Is Disclosed & Stored

We only share information with third-party service providers ("Processors") to the extent necessary to securely host and execute the core features of the Application. All standard application data stores are securely maintained within partitioned cloud databases managed by Supabase. These backend infrastructure partners are legally bound by strict confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using your data for any independent marketing, tracking, or secondary purpose. We may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our legal rights, or act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users or the public.

4. Crisis Mitigation Safe Harbor

Anchor does not actively monitor user interactions in real time with human personnel, nor is it equipped to deploy emergency medical or law enforcement services. However, the Application utilizes automated string-matching and semantic safety scripts. If your text or voice inputs strongly indicate an immediate risk of self-harm, suicide, or severe psychological crisis, the Application will automatically surface verified crisis resources (including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and Crisis Text Line).

5. Your Rights & Data Retention

Depending on your jurisdiction (including California), you may possess specific statutory rights regarding your personal data: • The Right to Access: You may request details on the categories and specific pieces of data we hold about you. • The Right to Deletion: You may request the permanent erasure of your account and all associated operational data at any time via the settings panel of the Application. • Data Retention: We retain your data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. Once an account deletion request is finalized, all referenced data stores (transcripts, tracking scores, and AI memory profiles) are systematically purged from our production databases.

6. Security of Data

The security of your personal data is a top priority. We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards—including transport-layer encryption and secure relational database partitioning—to maintain the confidentiality of your files. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
